Franz Ferdinand
Interview by Kate Jarvis
Talking to Alex From Franz Ferdinand
Franz Ferdinand interview - 8th August 2004 by Katie Jarvis
Franz Ferdinand are very busy bunnies at the moment and Alex still
found time to have a quick phone chat whilst at the Benicassim Festival
in Spain. He's happy that they are doing well and astounded at the
sell out gigs. All in all it's a great time to be Franz Ferdinand,
they are just off to Girona to record songs for the new album before
coming back to play in the UK later this year. Could it get any
better?
KJ - You played the QMU earlier this year and now your playing
huge festivals, how does that feel?
Alex - It's really good to play both types - at smaller gigs it's
a more dynamic and energized show. You also play the songs differently,
at festivals you draw the songs out and play around with them a
bit.
KJ - How is the tour going so far?
Alex -It's really sunny and hectic, it's fantastic. I did get sunstroke
though and was really ill.
KJ -How are you feeling now?
Alex -I'm feeling much better thanks.
KJ -Highlight so far?
Alex -Its all been great, we've done the Suji Rock Festival in
Japan and the Splendour In The Grass Festival in Australia, its
all been amazing.
KJ -Ok i'm going to be blunt now, your tickets are rarer than rocking
horse shit, how does that feel?
Alex -(Laughs) It's amazing I heard that the Barras gig sold out
in 20 mins.
KJ -Are you looking forward to playing in Glasgow again?
Alex -Yeah it will be really good to come back.
KJ -And lastly - as a seasoned orange smuggler can you tell me
the black market price of a Satsuma?
Alex -(Laughs) Well it all depends on the size of it and the country
that you get it from really, and anyway everyone knows that tangerines
have a higher market value (laughs again)
KJ - Thanks a lot for that Alex; I'll let you get back to it all,
take care.
Alex -Cheers Kate you too, see ya.
