RUBUS featuring Emma Lamford - Starlight / Future Past (City Rollaz 12")

Now this really is a bit special. A side "Starlight" is a superb slice of melodic drum 'n' bass from Midlands based producer, Rubus. By moving things down a groove and employing shades of jazz and soul in the mix, this is quite overpowering and sometimes beautiful. Emma Lamford has a rich, classy voice and it's used to good effect here, on a truly wonderful track.

Flip things over and things take a more straight edged approach to the genre, but there's a lightness of touch and a melodic sensibility which makes for both a challenging and a soothing ride. Highll recommended.
