CENSUS OF HALLUCINATIONS - The 3rd Eye (Stone Premonitions)The first offering of 2001 from SP, and its album number 3 for the Census of Hallucinations project. As with "Opus 2" this is at the lighter end of the psychedelic spectrum. The first real track, "Lie Again" sets the tone for the whole album. A carefully crafted, melodic song, around which various textures drift in and out, almost in an arbitrary manner, but each adding to the magic. This time around there's a fair bit of political comment with the aforementioned "Lie Again" and "The Selfishness Of The Thatcher Years" being the most apparent. "Life Is Never Easy" stands out as a particular highlight with an ethereal harmonica riff that you can't quite shake off, and some glistening guitar work. Those of you who are fans of Terri-Bs vocals will thrill to "Have Him Stripped And Washed And Sent To My Tent":-) and "Stragon Cluin The Dragon" rightly takes its place as one of the defining moments of the album. Another excellent offering and one you should really own. Stone Premonitions;
