RIOT ACT - Live At Suma / Maniacal Disastrophe Tour (Neurosis)

Riot Act were in in existence from 1990 until 1996 and Rick Ray, for 'tis he, reckons this is the band he had the most enjoyment playing music with. So when "Live At Suma", a recording from 1995 was rereleased, it seemed opportune to get the power trio back together one more time. And "Maniacal Disastrophe Tour" was the result.

Musically, there's little to choose between them. Traditional power trio material strong on blues riffs and power chords, it's the sound that kept hundreds of thousands of Mid-West kids going in the seventies. Mahogany Rush, Randy Hansen, rock and roll. Personally, I lap this up and so should you. For it's the sound of honest hard working talented musicians who have that extra bit of inspiration that lifts them above the pub rockers. Of the two CDs my vote goes to the reunion disc, for you can hear the delight at the three of them having found their musical chops after a five year hiatus. Excellent.
