What we have here is a rounding up, a clearout, a let's empty the cupboards exercise. A collection of mixes and out takes that didn't quite make it on to the 1st CoH releases.

For the unitiated CoH specialise in a nuniquely British brand of whimsical psychedelia with the odd dip into the world of political commentary.

So this could have been a complete pigs ear of a release, and to be honest, some of the tracks fade away just as they're becoming interesting. But the CoH project has such uniformly high standards that even the out takes have a glistening charm. One thing that links these pieces together it seems to be an understated jazz sensibilty missing from the main CoH releases. "Loving The Rainbow" being a perfect example. If you've yet to dip your toes into the rainbow coloured water of CoH then this could be a gentle way of easing yourself in.

But be warned, CoH is an extremely addictive product. You will want more. So tread warily or your bank balance will suffer. Which isn't my problemJ So point your credit card towards www.the-rocker.co.uk and make me a happy bunny.

NEGATIVE TRIP / M NOMIZED

And here's the ever elusive, publicity shy Negative Trip raising their heads above the Swiss parapets to apologetically display their ever growing electronic talents.

Becasue, whereas before the word promising was used, now they've delivered upon that promise. Whether its the collaboration thats proved the catalyst, or whether its their own expanding headband, I know not. But this is quite excellent. Low ley, dub heavy, dronetastic, this is electronic manna which I can wholeheartedly recommend.

In an interesting twist, some of the remixes bear no relarion to others of the same name, which is taking the concept of remixing a tad too far, but who cares. I'm far too deeply in lurve with the insect mix of Keveslak Zone.

Odeon Beat Club - I Need More Time / Nicked (Play)

Ack! For a while there, I though this single was going to be one of those barstewarding Belle & Sebastian rip off things. And what, pray, is the point of ripping off keech? Thankfully, the similarities are purely superficial, and there's a tad more creativity at work here than in the limp B&S canon.

Personally, I'd have swapped sides, with "Nicked" being a far stronger song than "I Need More Time", but this is a worthy release from a promising new outfit.
