Terveet Kadet - Non Ultra Descriptica (Solardisk)

When the four horsemen of the apocalypse do ride out, there's a more than even chance that they'll originate in Finland, and this will be the soundtrack to the end of the world.

The title track which kicks things off is a tad misleading, as it barely hints at the malevolence that comes firing out thereafter. The lyrics are minimalist bute bite and snarl their way through the rhythm driven wall of sound. The undoubted highlight is "Where Black Stars Rise". Positively Lovecraftian in its menace, it will doubtless be appearing in my end of year review for 2001.

Special mention must go to Mika Pohjula whose judicious use of keys goes a long way way towards making this a very special recording.
